big thanks to beyond genre, hugo, pan optics, circuit bent & ty itayi for an absolutely legendary party. here is the instrumental soundtrack to the great cult unification ceremony, 2nd hour of the 3 hour set. led by hugo (rap news) after hugo & treats final track, 1 1 2 3 5 (let it reign)
get mashed rises again at pony. if you remember the carnage from last time, you probably weren’t there. this will be a monster. the legendary sideshow is back from his epic tour of the us & canada, leaving a trail of smashed up dance floors, melted faces and ginger pubes whereever he went. kicking off from 3am through til dawn, this is one to get your teeth (knocked) in to. click here for more info
another great night from norman standard, this time its a secret location up a mountain somewhere… i’ve been there and its a fantastic place, amazing view, fresh spring water available (bring ya large cans), not to mention an awesome lineup of local talent including big bottom end bossman himself, bass bin laden. click here for more info

norman standard kept it high at this cheeky seaside day party. it ended up a gorgeous afternoon, watching lovers dance in the water to some soulful laid-back beats. listen on a hot day and imagine a secluded beach, cool crisp cider and a giant inflatable turtle called franklin… 12 02 25 treats @ sunnyside nudist beach by musicfromspeakers
rippling underwater moods & classic sun soaked grooves, floating lazily around the pool. once a year a select group of elite djs are chosen by a shadowy council cabal to carefully sculpt the vibes on these summer sunday afternoon sessions. this is the first hour of treat’s 2 hour set, lightly edited for your listening pleasure.
here we are, are you ready? time for hugo to drop some spirit science, featuring general baxter, terrence moonseed, anonymous & NOAM CHOMSKY?! (thanks to the amazing unsung hero, giordano nanni for writing, filming & editing)
looking forward to this weekend! its our third year performing at rainbow, but our first gracing the playground stage with the full band. we’ll be on at 5:15pm saturday. treats will also pop up under the radar, with possible sets at umelicious, cocopocoloco, the sensorium, the dubstep cafe, the crystal mandala & the cyclic sound system!
heres a taste of our sets from the last couple of years
a deep session round the campfire at this natural amphitheatre by the lake on the beautiful french island. fest la tadpole was a small scale ‘proof-of-concept’ party at an abandoned prison that has been converted into a thriving biodynamic eco-farm. great food, powerful cider & good times were had by all.
a ten minute set on a hijacked bus to a crowd of unsuspecting folk fans at woodford. catch more of this madness tonight at the evelyn, 351 brunswick st, fitzroy at 9pm.
hugo & treats promo brand new material alongside easily one of the most exciting bands in melbourne right now, hiatus kaiyote. their sound has been described by beat magazine as ‘an unholy blend of cody chestnutt and monkey magic’ and by me as ‘herbie hancock & erikah badu fucking in a cloud’ more info click here
starting with a cheeky bootleg, this one got deep, dark, dirty & weird. pure fresh electronic bass music for the heads (and butts) at this iconic venue in the heart of fitzroy. spooky themed decor and mad visuals from vj chronic sans notched up the vibes.
bit of a fail at strawberry fields festival this year, managed to play the first part of this set, then just as the new objekt joint dropped, the generator went down. first 12 minutes of this one is ‘as was’ on the day, after that is a post-festival mix of what could have happened next…
treats ended up playing for 3 hours at this renegade free bar, tucked between the trees at shine on festival, deep in the australian pyrenees.
this last half hour catches us easing down from a proper chunky rinse up into warm soulfully abstract techiness, as always with a few cheeky classics carefully woven in for good measure (lightly edited for your listening pleasure)
